Prophesy of Jesus. Why we believe he is the Messiah.
Name – Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, meaning “the Lord saves”
Christ is Greek, Messiah is Hebrew, both mean “the anointed One”
Jews were looking for a soldier, someone like David. They wanted someone to save
them from their enemies forever. But Jesus came to save both the Jews and Gentiles
from the biggest enemy -
In some Jewish prayer books it still has “I believe with a perfect heart that the Messiah will come; and although his coming be delayed, I still wait patiently for his speedy appearance.”
The Messiah was promised to the first Jew, Abraham. God told him that All Nations would be blessed through his descendants.
